ChevronTexaco – Boscan Field
Geographical Location
The Boscan Field is an oil producing zone located at northwest Zulia state in Venezuela. This field was assigned by the state-owned PDVSA to the ChevronTexaco consortium. It is characterized by featuring two heavy oil (9 A.P.I) producing sands.
Installed Equipment
The Boscan Field has a wide variety of eProduction Solutions equipment, including the following: CAC 8800 rod pump controller (RPC), CAC 2000 RPC, an adaptation of EXS-1000 for beam wells with gas motors, EXS-1000 remote terminal unit (RTU), CS7X RTUs, multi-point digital downhole sensors installed at the PCP and FV1100-460-060-E-060-F00 variable frequency drives. In addition, ChevronTexaco has the csLIFT suite installed with the following software: csSub, csBeam, csInjection, csMonitor and csWelltest.
How Does It Work?
Through a SCADA system, implemented and integrated via radio, all variables from wells and flow stations are sent to a server at the main station which serves as a host for all the analysis, monitoring and design software installed in ChevronTexaco - Venezuela. Well status changes are viewed at the control room and any pertaining decisions are made for each case. Servers and workstations are linked via LAN, allowing each user, depending on his/her condition, to change or visualize the status of the wells in charge.
