Flow Metering

Total Flow Solutions

In addition to providing critical information about reservoir characteristics, flow measurements alert operators to changing conditions so modifications can be made to maximize production rates and recovery rates.

Weatherford provides a family of accurate, reliable flow products and solutions to address the multiple applications and operational criteria that operators face in today’s production environment. Products include a unique, infrared-technology water-cut meter, a multiphase metering system, electronic flow measurement (EFM) solutions and a suite of field and reservoir analysis software tools for optimizing production.

EFM Solution

Compact and powerful, the EFM RTU provides functionality with flexible programming options. With real-time communications using industry-standard Modbus protocols, the EFM integrates easily with a wide range of SCADA software, MMIs, DCS systems, intelligent instrumentation and remote I/O control applications. The EFM solution performs in a wide variety of applications which require a mix of analog and digital I/O coupled with multiple communication ports, such as process control, well testing and optimization and metering applications.

The EFM RTU can be used with solar panels and provides reliable, stand alone performance, even in hazardous environments.

Red Eye® 2G Water-Cut Meter

The 2G water-cut meter uses unique infrared technology to deliver unmatched accuracy in water-cut data. It delivers the needed performance under actual production conditions, not just ideal laboratory conditions. This innovative product negates the gas, salinity and safety issues typically encountered with in-line meter systems.

The measurement is based on simultaneously measuring multiple wavelengths that include both water and oil absorbent peaks. Scattering effects caused by emulsions, sand or gas bubbles have the same effect at all wavelengths and as such can be nullified.

The meter can be used alone to measure and report instantaneous water cut; in conjunction with a companion NOC to perform timed production well tests; or as part of the Red Eye Multiphase Metering System (REMMS). The product features easy installation, calibration and service.

Red Eye Multiphase Metering System

The REMMS provides operators real-time data for continuous mode monitoring. When a reliable three-phase meter is required to assure successful production management, the innovative REMMS system offers an easily transportable, power efficient, small footprint, lower-cost alternative to traditional metering systems.

Our REMMS combines compact separation technology with conventional liquid and gas metering to provide a complete multiphase measurement solution. A REMMS flow computer controls process conditions within the system as well as interpreting and recording data and providing communications with external host systems.

The principle of the operation is based on inducing bulk separation of the liquid and gas phases by creating a cyclonic flow pattern. Once separated, the individual streams are measured with conventional liquid and gas meters. The separated phases are then recombined or transported in separate flowlines. Although this concept and its advantages have been known for some years, recent advances in technology have brought compact cyclonic separators to the forefront of multiphase metering in the oil and gas industry.

The multiphase meters are built to ANSI B31.3 piping code. This provides greater flexibility to design and build systems to handle any well head or process pressure and temperatures up to 450°F. It also eliminates the need for a pressure safety valve on the system. Depending on customer requirements the REMMS can also be built under ASME Section VIII, Division 1 vessel code specifications.

Net Oil Computer

The NOC is used for performing production well tests to determine oil and water flow rates. The NOC receives the instantaneous water-cut reading from the Red Eye 2G water-cut meter along with a signal for total liquid flow rate and calculates average production rates for oil and water over the user specified test period.
