Wellsite Intelligence with the Plunger Lift Solution

Weatherford's plunger lift controller product line provides accurate time based and/or pressure based control to optimize production of your plunger lift well. The controller operates in one of four user selectable control modes including: A/B valve (normal mode), Pressure mode, Murphy mode, and 3 valve mode. Historical data stored in the controller including but not limited to: number of plunger travels, total plunger arrivals, plunger travel time, and accumulated sales time.

The controller is an ultra low power system typically operating from a 5 or 10 Watt solar system and includes battery backup. Auxiliary I/O is available with the base system to interface to casing/tubing pressure sensors and other peripherals. Remote communication options, utilizing Modbus protocol, include hardwire, UHF/VHF radio, cellular and satellite.

With this plunger lift software, you now have the ability to improve the efficiency of your plunger lift wells by accurately monitoring the status and operational parameters of the plunger lift controller. The software employs a flexible framework to support the widely-varying functionality available in different plunger lift controllers.

The application allows the user to identify problems as they occur, assess problems, and even predict future problems. These features can greatly reduce system down time and eliminate unnecessary trips to the well. The plunger lift software monitors and creates trends and charts for plunger speed, battery voltage, number of plunger arrivals, and other operational parameters collected by the controller. The trends are updated in near real time, allowing the user to identify developing problems and take corrective action.

If the controller provides gas measurement functionality, the software can collect the custody transfer data archive data. An operational copy of this data is made available for editing in the plunger lift application, while an unedited version is maintained for transfer to any gas accounting system.

The software also provides remote configuration and adjustment of the plunger lift controller. This permits the user to optimize the plunger lift installation without venturing to the wellsite. It is designed to operate via a number of communications media including: radio, cellular, CDPD, GEO satellite.
